The fifth installment in the Mario & Sonic series, Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, is a sports game for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. It, like the other games, is hosted in Rio de Janeiro, the host city of the corresponding year’s Olympics. It is also amiibo compatible. For the first time in the series, the portable version of this game was released before the home console version.
