Elden Ring Guide – Blaidd Questline

In Elden Ring, Blaidd is one of the many non-player characters that you will come across who will give you a side quest to complete. In this section of our Elden Ring guide, you’ll find information on where to look for Blaidd, how to start his questline, and the consequences of the decisions you make along the way.

Ranni’s Questline, which is one of the primary narrative arcs in the game, is intricately connected to Blaidd’s Questline in a variety of ways.

Where to Find Blaidd – First Meeting

In order to find Blaidd, you will need to travel to the Mistwood Ruins in Limgrave during the night. If you don’t already have this location marked on your map, you can find it on the west side of the forest road, to the northwest of the Nomadic Merchant that is located in this area.

You won’t be able to communicate with him just yet due to timing issues. You should be able to spot a tower on the north side of the Mistwood Ruins if you approach them in a cautious manner (there is a sleeping bear that you do not need to wake). Blaidd can be heard howling from the peak. After you have verified that you have heard a wolf howl, you will be able to engage in conversation with the Merchant Kalé located in the Church of Elleh in Limgrave. Pay Kalé a visit and enquire with him about the howling. He will provide you with some background information on Blaidd and instruct you on how to perform the “Finger Snapping” gesture, which is necessary in order to get Blaidd’s attention.

When you hear the wolf howling, head back to the Mistwood Ruins and use the Finger Snap gesture. This will cause Blaidd to materialise. If you strike up a conversation with him, he will reveal to you that he is on the hunt for Dariwil. This is a boss from one of the many Evergaols that can be found strewn about the Lands Between. Carry on through the rest of the game and make your way to the southern region of Limgrave in order to proceed with the next stage of Blaidd’s quest.

Darriwil Location – Forlorn Hound Evergaol

If you travel to Limgrave’s Forlorn Hound Evergaol, which is situated just before the Weeping Peninsula, you will discover that you have the ability to call upon Blaidd to assist you in the conflict with the Bloodhound Knight Darriwil. Agheel Lake South is the Site of Grace that is located closest to the Evergaol, making it convenient for both travel and reference.

After you have vanquished Darriwil, speak to Blaidd to collect your reward of a Somber Smithing Stone [2]. After some more conversation with him, he will tell you about a blacksmith named Iji who can be found in the northwest region of Liurnia.

Third Meeting

After you have completed Caria Manor and unlocked the Three Sisters in the north of Liurnia, you should make your way to Ranni’s Rise, which is the westernmost of the three. You will have your first encounter with Ranni here, marking the beginning of the Ranni the Witch Questline.

As part of this, she will call upon Blaidd, along with Seluvis and Iji, and request that you have a conversation with him. You will be able to locate Blaidd downstairs as you make your way back down from the top of the tower. Following a brief exchange with you, he will enquire whether you are available to meet him in Siofra River.

At Siofra River

From this point forward, the main questline for Blaidd will become intertwined with the sidequests of the following NPCs:

  • Alexander the Iron Fist Questline
  • Seluvis Questline
  • Sorceress Sellen Questline

Find Blaidd in Siofra River just north of the southernmost Hallowhorn Grounds in Siofra River. He will be standing near a cliff below the aqueduct that is above them.

If you talk to him until you’ve exhausted all of the possible dialogue options, he’ll tell you that he believes Seluvis knows more about entering Nokron, Eternal City than he’s pretending to know about it. Return to Seluvis’ Rise, and if you haven’t already spoken to him, doing so will kick off the Seluvis Questline. Doing so will also bring you back to the beginning of the quest.

You will be informed by Seluvis that Sellen might have some information, and he will provide you with the Seluvis’s Introduction key item so that you can take it to Sellen and enquire further about the matter. Sellen will tell you that Starscourge Radahn is the key to unlocking Nokron, but due to the fact that he is in possession of the stars, you will need to defeat him in order to access it.

It is only possible to start the festival by having a conversation with Seluvis, so if you’ve been looking for the celebration that Alexander the Iron Fist mentioned in his questline, this is the only way to do it. When you have gained this knowledge about Radahn, you will be able to make your way back to Blaidd. He promises to meet you at Redmane Castle so that you can engage in combat against Radahn together. At this point in the quest, he needs to travel to Caelid in the southeast direction in order to reach the previously mentioned castle.

Fighting Starscourge Radahn

As soon as you enter the courtyard, you will notice that a large number of NPCs have gathered there. Among them are Blaidd and Alexander the Iron Fist. Proceed up the stairs and speak with Castellen Jerren to start the festival. This will trigger a cutscene that will offer some background information about General Radahn’s predicament. It is important to keep in mind that the doors to enter the boss battle against Radahn won’t open until you have a conversation with him. As a result, you will need to repeat this process every time you activate this fight.

Continue through the doors, up the stairs, and take the one that is directly behind the chair. After that, go to the right to access a lift that will take you down to a teleporter that will take you to the boss fight with Radahn. In this area, you will have the ability to call upon a number of NPCs to assist you in the battle against him.

Talk to Blaidd after you’ve successfully vanquished Radahn. He will instruct you to meet “where the falling star bit the earth” when he tells you where to do so. It is important to take note that this location will be denoted with a red stamp on your map, and it can be found in Limgrave close to the Mistwood Ruins.

Not only does the defeat of Radahn advance Blaidd’s questline, but it is also required to advance the following NPC storylines:

  • Ranni the Witch Questline
  • Sorceress Sellen Questline
  • Alexander the Iron Fist Questline

The Forlorn Hound Evergaol

You need to go back to the Forlorn Hound Evergaol, which is the location of your first battle with Bloodhound Knight Darriwil. As you approach the location, you will hear a sound that is immediately recognisable, followed by Blaidd introducing himself and explaining that Iji has trapped him inside. You now have the choice of whether or not to assist him at this point in the game. The only way to move forward with his questline is to break him out of his cell and set him free.

After you have freed him, Blaidd will inform you that he needs to go back to the Three Sisters in order to guarantee Ranni’s safety there. Be aware, however, that if you come back to this location, Blaidd will not be there to greet you in any way shape or form. Instead, you should make your way to the crater left behind by the crashing star in order to enter a new underground region and locate the next part of Blaidd’s quest.

Nokstella, Eternal City

If you have been following the questline provided by both Blaidd and Ranni, then Blaidd should be waiting for you here when you arrive at the next location. Once you have arrived at the Nokstella Site of Grace, continue along the path that runs along the floor. When you reach a structure in the south, go inside of it and take the lift down to the level below it when you get there.

Following this path will bring you to the Site of Grace at the Nokstella Waterfall Basin. If you choose to take a break here, a new conversation option with Ranni will become available to you while you are seated at the Site of Grace. Moving forward towards the eggs and following the path around to the red room is the next step from here. In this location, a Baleful Shadow that looks like Blaidd will attempt to attack you.

If you defeat this invader, Ranni will express her gratitude by bidding you farewell and handing you the key to the discarded palace. (This can be utilised to open the locked chest that Rennalla has placed in the Grand Library; inside, you will find the key item for the Dark Moon Ring.)

Ranni’s Rise

If you choose to return to Ranni’s Rise at the conclusion of the Ranni the Witch Questline, your final interaction with Blaidd will take place there. When you get closer to the entrance to the rise, you’ll be able to hear Blaidd mumbling incoherently while he’s bent over the dead body of a Black Knife Assassin.

Blaidd will attack you if you leave the Rise (or if you get within aggro distance when approaching from the east). It appears that he went insane just as Iji feared he would, seemingly as a result of his heartbreak over the fact that Ranni did not choose him to be her chosen consort. The unfortunate reality is that there is no way to disarm him or escape this calamity.

If you are successful in defeating him, he will drop:

  • Royal Greatsword
  • Blaidd’s Armor
  • Blaidd’s Gauntlets
  • Blaidd’s Greaves
