In Elden Ring, you’ll run into a lot of different NPCs, and one of them, Boc, will have a side quest for you to finish. In this section of our guide to the Elden Ring, you will find specific information regarding where to find him, how to begin his questline, and the repercussions of any decisions you make along the way.
Where to Find Boc in Limgrave
When you first come into contact with Boc, you will first notice his voice before you actually see him. Keep following the road as it circles the north end of Agheel Lake until it makes a U-turn and heads back towards the south. Keep an eye on the path’s left side; once you spot a telescope close to the road, you should also hear a voice calling out to you. Keep an eye on the path’s left side. Keep an eye out to the east to find something stowed away in a pitch.
You should be able to see a small tree that looks like a reddish shrub just beyond the item, in front of a group of trees. Roll into it to reveal that it is actually Boc, who will then understand that he had been turned into a tree by an unknown assailant. Roll into it to reveal that Boc was turned into a tree by an unknown assailant.
If you talk to him, he will tell you that he was expelled from a cave against his will. After handing you some mushrooms, he will inform you that he is going to sneak into the cave. The Coastal Cave is the next location where you’ll have a chance to meet up with Boc.
At the Coastal Cave
You will find Boc by the Site of Grace in a precarious condition when you arrive there. In order to retrieve Boc’s tailoring tools and sewing needle, you will need to enter the building and engage in a boss fight against two chiefs of the Demi-Human race.
After the fight is over, you should return to Boc and hand him the Sewing Needle that you have been holding onto. While you are able to keep the Tailoring Tools to modify certain armour while resting at a Site of Grace – which can remove cloaks and lower armour and weight values – Boc will be inspired to live on and become a seamster and leave the cave behind. This will allow Boc to leave the cave behind.
Boc in Liurnia
You will find him once more at the Site of Grace close to the Church of Irith if you play through the rest of the game until you reach Liurnia. When you speak to him here, he will tell you that he is able to make alterations to the garments that you are wearing. Even though you are able to modify your armour on your own, if you ask him to do it for you, he will not charge you the standard fee of 500 runes that you are required to pay whenever you modify your armour on your own.
You need to make certain that you have completed the following tasks before he will move on to the next location:
Talk to Melina about the situation with Boc. This can be accomplished at a number of Sites of Grace, but the Site of Grace located at the East Raya Lucaria Gate is by far the most convenient location for doing so.
Finger Reader Enia can be found in the Roundtable Hold. Visit her to purchase at least one piece of legendary armour (which is crafted from Boss Remembrances).
Gather the Key Item, a Gold Sewing Needle, from the Church of Vows in eastern Liurnia.
You will be able to give him the Gold Needle once all three requirements have been satisfied. This will enable him to modify legendary armour and will also unlock the ability for him to proceed with his quest.
At Bellum Highway
After you have a conversation with Boc close to the Church of Irith, he will reappear at the East Raya Lucaria Gate Site of Grace close to the Academy of Raya Lucaria shortly after that. In this location, he will provide the same kinds of services that he did in the other locations, such as alterations to clothing.
Boc in Leyndell, Royal Capital
The Site of Grace on the East Capital Rampart is where you will find Boc in his final location (or in his penultimate location, depending on what you choose to do next). Staying here for a while will bring Boc to this location if you want him. Finish the conversation he has with you about the Erdtree to unlock the three different paths you can take to finish his questline.
Give Boc Nothing
If you do not give Boc anything, he will express regret over his appearance and discuss how he hopes to be reborn by Rennala. You will notice that he is no longer there after you reload the area in question. It is unfortunate that he was unable to visit Rennala because he did not have the Larval Tear that was required, but it appears that he has instead embarked on his own journey to become beautiful. At this point, it is impossible to locate him again until NG+.
Give Boc a Larval Tear
If you choose the alternative option to give Boc a Larval Tear, he will thank you for allowing him to be reborn through Rennala and will offer his gratitude to you. At this point, you need to finish all of his lines of dialogue before reloading the area to discover that he has moved. Be aware that if you choose this path, you will ensure that he will perish in an unavoidable manner.
You can find Boc, now in his reborn human form, by using the fast travel feature to get to the Raya Lucaria Grand Library Site of Grace (which is also where Rennala is located). However, he will not respond to you in any way. You will find that he has passed away if you reload the area, whether you do so by pausing to rest at the Site of Grace or by leaving the area and coming back later.
Use the Prattling Pate “You’re Beautiful” Item
You are required to use the “You’re Beautiful” Prattling Pate in order to prevent Boc from passing away or going missing. After he has finished talking about how he wants to change his appearance, you should open your inventory and use the “You’re Beautiful” phrase while you are standing in front of him.
If you have not discovered it yet, look around the Hermit’s Village to the southeast of Mount Gelmir and investigate the houses there until you find a large item icon on a body that is lying on the front porch of one of the houses. On the page devoted to the Hermit Village within this wiki, you will find further details regarding its precise location.
After you use this item in front of Boc and then continue your conversation with him, Boc will express his utmost gratitude for your reassurances concerning his appearance. He will gladly continue to serve you as Elden Lord, and he will stay in this location until you reach the NG+ level.
