In Elden Ring, one of the many non-player characters (NPCs) you will run into who will give you a primary quest to finish is named Fia. In this section of our guide to the Elden Ring, you will find information regarding where to find her, how to start her questline, and the outcomes of any choices you make along the way. Take note that Fia’s quest is one of the select few that has the potential to change the way the game plays out.
Where to Find Fia
In the Roundtable Hold, in the room that comes right before the one with Hewg, you’ll find Fia. You are able to engage in conversation with her the very first time you arrive there, and she will enquire as to whether or not she is able to hold you. You have the option of accepting the hug or declining it; however, if you do accept it, you will be penalised in the form of a debuff (which you can learn how to remove by reading this article: How to Remove Fia’s Hug Debuff).
After having a few conversations with Fia, new lines of dialogue will become available. You will need to have begun the Ranni the Witch Questline before you can move forward with her individual storyline.
Inverting Carian Hall
You should go back to the Study Hall Entrance Site of Grace in Liurnia and place the Carian Inverted Statue on the pedestal when you reach the point in Ranni’s Questline where you receive the statue. Once you have reached this point, you will receive the statue. Because of this, Carian Hall will now be upside down, and once you’ve entered it, you’ll need to head in the opposite direction.
Carefully drop down onto the chandeliers to reach the lift, which will take you all the way up to Liurnia Tower Bridge. You’ll need to cross this bridge (you can choose to fight or flee from the Godskin Noble here) and reach the Divine Tower of Liurnia on the other side.
Once you have climbed to the very top, approach the dead body and take the Mark of Death from it. Visit Fia again at the Roundtable Hold and have a conversation with her. Here you’ll need to embrace her to be able to “talk in secret.”
At this point, Fia will give you some more information and then ask you to return a weathered dagger to its owner. After having a conversation with D, Hunter of the Dead will now offer you the chance to hand over the knife that was previously mentioned.
Talk to D, Hunter of the Dead
Have a conversation with D and hand him the rusted dagger. He will enquire as to where you obtained the dagger, but in the end, he will conclude that it is irrelevant and declare that he will give it back to them.
You will notice that the door at the end of the hallway near Roderika and Hewg is now open once you reload the area and head to where they are located. If you go through it, you will see Fia standing over D’s dead body. After Fia has confessed her betrayal and acknowledged her role as a Deathbed Companion, she will leave the Roundtable Hold and never return.
A piece of information from the Rogier Questline is required in order to figure out where to go next. In the event that Rogier passes away, he leaves a note that reads as follows:
“I am sorry, but I failed to mention that D appears to have a younger brother. I was told that he is currently dozing off in the aqueduct that is located next to the Eternal City of Nokron. It is also said that he appeared before the Prince of Death not too far away from that location.”
This piece of information suggests that you should travel to the Siofra River in order to advance with this questline.
Siofra River
If you want to find the aqueduct that Rogier was talking about, you will need to head north from the Ancient Grounds Site of Grace and away from Nokron. Be careful, because there are two Crucible Knights in this area, and one of them is hiding at the top of a waterfall. Once you have navigated past the Crucible Knight and entered the aqueduct, you will eventually find D’s brother slumped over against a railing just before an ascending staircase. It is possible that you will be given the option here to give D’s brother the Twisted Armor Set depending on how far you have progressed through D’s questline.
You will also have the option to proceed forward to a boss fight against two Valiant Gargoyles at this location. After you have eliminated these two foes, proceed to the open coffin located at the very back of the room and interact with it. Only then will you be able to continue with Fia’s questline. If you make the decision to do so, a cutscene will be triggered, and it will end with you arriving at a new location.
Deeproot Depths
Following this path will bring you to Deeproot Depths, where you will have to navigate your way through tangled Erdtree roots in order to reach the ruined city. You’ll find a Site of Grace called Across the Roots if you climb your way up the branches of the tree. From the Site of Grace in the Deeproot Depths, make your way upwards while avoiding the enemies made of stone that spew flame and making your way through the roots and crumbling towers of the abandoned city. You will eventually see a ledge below you; when you do, you will need to jump to it in order to access the Across the Roots Site of Grace. After activating this Site of Grace, look to the wall of the ledge to find a hole that leads into a large open space with a massive misshapen corpse entangled in the roots on the far wall. You can find the hole by looking to the wall of the ledge.
During this portion of the fight, you will face off against a succession of Fia’s Champions in what is known as a serial boss fight. These non-playable characters (NPCs) will include well-known figures like Lionel the Lionhearted and Rogier.
After you have vanquished her Champions and reloaded the area, you will find Fia waiting for you on the opposite wall of the arena, sitting next to Godwyn’s dead body. If you speak to Fia once more, you will be given the option to have her hold you, which will provide you with yet another significant buff (this time with no debuff effect). You can learn more about her plans to lay with Godwyn if you choose to talk in secret with her after you have given her the Cursemark of Death.
When you return to Fia after taking a break at the Site of Grace, she will offer you the chance to take part in a Deathbed Dream if you rested there. If you decide to pursue this path, you will eventually face off against the optional boss, Lichdragon Fortissax.
You will be able to exit the Deathbed Dream after you have vanquished Lichdragon Fortissax. After taking this action, you will find an item on Fia’s body; in order to receive the Mending Rune of the Death Prince from her, you must collect the item. You can unlock the Age of Duskborn ending by using this ruin on Marika’s body after the battle against the final boss. Note that in order for this to be a viable option, you cannot have chosen the option to embrace the Frenzied Flame. Doing so will prevent you from accessing any other possible endings in the game.
